Mistakes Make Miracles
Dr. Jerry Dean Epps
Founder of The Awakening Path
"I'm glad I was an alcoholic," Jim L. said. "It lead me to AA and to the spiritual life! As the well-known "American prophet", Art Linkletter, once said, "... life tends to turn out best for folks who make the best of how things turn out..." Humans often make mistakes. This writer admits that he has made mistakes. Some of the really big. Other people went through grief and the hurt came back to me personally as well. Earth-side, I paid a price.

But in time, wounds mended, new doors opened, and I made amends as best I could. Hardest of all, I forgave myself. Looking back, the mistake turned out to be a miracle. I have come to see this as a divine principle at work. I don't recommend making mistakes on purpose - but when they do happen, as they likely will as long as we live on this planet, a miracle can some out of them. This is so because God is more powerful than our tiny human mistakes!

Whatever mistake you have made, whatever mistake I have made, it can become a miracle. How? In short, we invite God into our situation and allow His presence to dominate - the miracle will come.

There is something we can do to make that invitation effective - to really wake hold in our lives. That something is called Spiritual Surrender! Spiritual Surrender has nothing to do with giving up! It has everything to do with sitting quietly and desiring God's will to dominate in this situation until it becomes true in the pit of our stomach until it becomes true in the pit of our stomachs and/or our hearts.

Words don't matter - what matters is that every vibration emanating from our being is saying, "God, take over here!" Once that happens, we have spiritually surrendered - for the moment anyway. Then we go on about the business of living, handling situations as best we can - knowing that our state of surrender has God moving quietly behind the scenes working things out for the highest and best for all concerned. When we notice we have fallen out of that state, we get quiet and stay that way until we return to it. Once again, we go about our business - leaving outcomes to God.

Mistakes can make miracles. It is by missing the mark and then learning how to properly find our way to it that we learn! Staying safe or staying "right" is of little value - maturing as a soul is of great value! Just as Jim L.'s path leaf through drinking to God, and as others followed Art Linkletter's advice and make the best out of how things turned out, every mistake we make is a doorway to a miracle.

May we each let our next mistake make for us a miracle. Most of us make many mistakes, so our chances for having a miracle are great - go for it! Mistakes really are not so awful; what is awful is being stuck in them and making the same ones over and over. They can become our doorway Home. My friend, grab that next mistake, spiritually surrender around it, and ride it right into a miracle!
Good Idea!
Credit for this idea goes to George Soros (a very rich man who gives a lot of money away). It is called "Publish What You Pay", and it about ending the large gap between the poor and the rich in third world countries that have resources. Bad rulers skim off money paid to their country and keep it for themselves. The country as a whole suffers from not having this money in its national budget.

The bad leaders won't report their skimming, of course. But if purchasers (like the United States and others) report what they pay to that country for the oil, gold, etc, it can easily be compared to that specific country's national budget.

The gap (amount skimmed) between the amounts the country received and the amount in their national budget will be obvious! Maybe the bad leaders will get more responsible and let the money go to roads and schools rather than fancy cars and palaces for themselves.

Thank you, George Soros, for a good idea!
